The Tony D Band
Live Like Hell - Diesel
Try as they might, blues musicians never seem to be able to capture that live energy in the confines of a recording studio. Truth be told, they rarely capture it even on live albums, but this aural souvenir from the affable Mr. D's visit to Montreal's Café Campus earlier this year comes as close as dammit. And there's no denying Tony D's ability to squeeze great sounds out of his guitar, sounds which positively leap from the speakers on this recording. Sue Foley drops by for a vocal and some tasty fretwork, but Tony is in command throughout the proceedings. It's a spirited set of originals and blues standards which stand as Tony D's definitive recorded work.
